So long, Google Reader

Today when I go to Google Reader, this is what I see:

Google Reader discontinued

Sad day.

Google announced back in March that Google Reader (released in October of 2005) would be discontinued come July 1, 2013.  I started using Google Reader early on, and spend most of my web-time on Reader, reading various blogs.

For the time being, I'm going to give Feedly a try, but know that I'm not happy about it.

So long, Google Reader.  Farewell.

  1. I tried feedly for a while but didn't like it. Try newsblur. Or try the newly launched digg reader: http://digg.com/reader. Haven't tried it but I've heard it's good.

    1. Thanks -- giving Newsblur and Digg a try. I hope I find one to stick with, soon! It's annoying to have stuff in multiple readers -- doesn't get marked as read in the other two when you read it in another!

  2. I was so sad that Google Reader was going away. I'm using Feedly for now, but it's not perfect and it's definitely no Google Reader. Sniff sniff.
