Resolution Checkpoint: July

I really can't believe it's August already! Resolution check-in time! (Original 2013 resolutions can be found here).

--July Focus--

At the beginning of July I chose to focus on the present during the month.  I really made an effort to disconnect from everything back home and savor my time with Hannah, Herm, and Max during the two weeks I was in Hudson.  It wasn't until my last two days that I started getting overwhelmed with everything needed to do once I got back home, but I tried to suppress it until the very last minute.

--Overall Progress--

So here we go, my current progress on all remaining resolutions:

Books
  • (+) Read 32 books -- I've read 19 books of 32, which means I'm on track (according to Goodreads).  Books read in July include Adam Grant's Give and Take and Tami Hoag's Deeper Than The Dead.  I'm currently reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.
  • (-) Five of the 32 will be in Spanish -- I have read 1 / 5 books in Spanish. (Hermanos monigotes II)
  • (+) Five of the 32 will be books that I own in my apartment -- I have read 8 / 5 books that I own in my apartment.  I'm still hitting up the library and reading ebooks on my kindle.
  • (-) Two of the 32 books will be in French -- I'm only a few pages into Harry Potter, but I just renewed it for a second (and final) time today.
Health
  • (+) Take probiotics every day -- I'm still taking probiotics most days, but haven't been tracking it.
  • (+) Read JJ's info from health center; read the health book his Dr. recommended -- I've read pertinent information from the book The Road to Perfect Health, lent to me by JJ.

Personal
  • (+) Write in journal every day -- Starting my new journal and traveling for two weeks did wonders to my journal writing.  I wrote 18 out of 31 days in July, and I've already filled up more than a quarter of this "new" journal.
  • (+) Only log in to facebook 1x/day maximum -- I'm actually preparing to deactivate my account... but feel as though it will be useful in finding activities / keeping in touch when I move.
  • (+) Focus on gratitude -- I've been keeping up with my Thankful Thursdays and sending thank you cards.  Happify, the site I joined in June, has continued to help keep gratitude in focus. (I have one invitation left to Happify. Comment with your email address if you want it!)

Fitness
  • (+) Do something physical at least two days a week -- I didn't do any running or play in any ultimate games for the two weeks I stayed with Hannah, but I did make a fool of myself doing a back yard workout that turned into a solo dance session one afternoon while Hannah was at work!  I also made use of her mother's bike as my preferred mode of transportation around town those weeks.
Guitar
  • (-) Play the guitar once a week -- In preparation of moving out of my apartment, I brought my guitar and stand back to my parents' house back at the beginning of July, since I would be gone most of the month anyway.  Depending on whether or not I buy a guitar in Korea, this goal might cease to exist for the remainder of 2013.
Languages
  • (-) Go to the French conversation table! -- I was out of town most of the month, and with Max last Monday, so I haven't been in a while.  This is my last week in Madison, so this resolution will likely change for the remaining months of the year.
  • (  ) Learn basic Korean -- I've got materials, but I've only dabbled.  I'm hoping to sit down and actually learn the alphabet once I finish working when I'm living at my parents' house for the last two weeks of August.
Travel
Blogs

--August Focus--

I'm not a materialistic person to begin with, but I want to focus on having less stuff in August.  I'll be packing for a year away, so I'd like to go through my bedroom at my parents' house (as I seem to do at least once a year) and get rid of even more things.  Less is more.

How is everyone else doing on their new year's resolutions?
