Thankful Thursday: 3/6/14

[Thankful Thursday is a weekly segment that began 1/10/13 - read why here.  I invite you to join me in practicing gratitude!]

Today I'm thankful for one of the librarians at school, and the six words she spoke to me yesterday after school.  (And yes, this is the same woman who helped me get a Korean public library card a few months ago.)  She speaks the least English of the teachers at school who have ever spoken to me in English, which is why I'm even more thankful of the effort she makes. She also has the warmest, most sincere smile that always makes me feel good (Will someone remind me to get a picture with her before I leave?).

Yesterday after school we were both walking down the same short street while leaving school. We walked in silence most of the way, and as we parted she said, "Come to library. I miss you."  So sweet!

Though perhaps not evident on the blog, January was the start of my slumps, and February was not the best month for me.  Actually, I can accurately say that February was my worst month in Korea. But since the start of the new school year on Monday, I've been feeling quite differently. Re-energized. Refreshed. Ready to make the most of these last six months and enjoying small moments - like the librarian's smile and kind words.

"The root of joy is gratefulness."
