Resolutions Checkpoint 2014: July

Good afternoon, August.

August - holy crap! When did that happen?!

Let's take a look at what progress I made in July towards each of my three 2014 resolutions, shall we?

Like always, this is the key:
   Bold = Completed task
   Normal = Not completed :/
Bold + Italics = Completed, not originally on task list.

-- Progress in July --

1. Digestive health

  • Read Food Over Medicine: The Conversation That Could Save Your Life
  • Drink peppermint tea every day (I have about 30 bags I need to finish, as I only have two months left in the country)
    • It wasn't every single day, but I've made a huge dent in the tea supply, which was the intention. I should be able to finish it all in August.
  • Try some recommendations from my Eastern medicine experience
    • I've slept with the herbal pouch on my pillow every night, and my aroma therapy soap is almost gone!

2. Health site

  • Publish two posts this month.
  • Make two images for two previously published posts, pin to Pinterest and share on GooglePlus.

3. Non 9-5 work

  • Focus on new editing/writing gig (8-10 hours a week).
  • Read Copyblogger's ebook How to Write Magnetic Headlines
  • Read Copyblogger's ebook How to Create Compelling Content that Ranks Well in Search Engines

Background goals

  • Finish reading The Named and Food Over Medicine
  • A half-hour each week of Camino research/planning
    • Whoops.
  • Buy plane ticket to Madrid, and Madrid --> London

-- Background Goals --

And here's my overall progress on those bits and pieces that would be great to accomplish this year as well:
  • Read 32 books this year (2 in Spanish)
    • I've read 19/32 books -- (One in Spanish)
    • Finished Food Over Medicine, The Named, The Key, and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim this month.
  • Gain strength & muscle, enough that there's a notable difference in a before and after picture
    • I am currently on Day 77 of my Give it 100 project to increase flexibility in my legs, but I've hardly participated at all this month.
    • I've done just a few days of that arm weight-lifting routine.
  • Add pull-down tabs to both of my Blogger blogs
    • Lately I've been browsing new templates (with pull-down tabs, of course) instead. If I find one that I like enough, this blog might have a new look soon.
  • Walk the Camino de Santiago
  • Visit Hannah and Herm in London
    • Bought my plane ticket! This is happening!
  • Make a Korea bucket list and post it (and do it!)
  • Unplug more often
  • Resume French study

-- August Focus --

August will be a very short month in terms of alone time to work on my goals. I'll have this first week, and then I'll be gone traveling with my grandma and sister for two weeks. The final week of August is also my last week in Korea, so I'm sure there will be lots of loose ends to tie up during that time.

With that said, these are my to-do items in August:

1. Digestive health

  • Finish reading The China Study.
  • Research criticism of The China Study and write findings into a draft post.

    2. Health site

    • Publish one new post.
    • Make graphic for one older post and share on Google Plus.

    3. Non 9-5 work

    • Work on Elance profile for 2 hours.
    • 10 hours/week editing (only weeks when I'm not traveling)

It's never too late to work towards any goal! Identify a small task today that can easily be done, and give yourself a deadline of one to two days. When you cross it off, write the next small step to take towards your goal, again with a due date only one or two days away. Rinse and repeat!
