Resolutions Checkpoint 2015: October

Resolutions Checkpoing 2015 - October (Rebe With a Clause)

Time to check in on October's goals I set last month to keep moving forward towards my three resolutions of 2015.

As always, completed items are bold, and completed items that weren't on my original list are both bold and italicized.

October Progress

1. Reach a high intermediate level of French.
  • Use FluentU every day—even just 5 minutes is perfect. — As you recall, we didn't have internet until October 23, so I did not get in this daily practice.
  • Make grammar plan of attack (schedule/routine to cover all the topics I'm lacking from my base) There are 52 units in the grammar workbook I bought (see next bullet point), so my plan is to do at least one unit a week. (I've already done 1.5 units in two days, so I think I'll get way ahead "schedule.") I also now have two blank journals for drawing grammar charts, mind maps and other visuals.
  • Buy Grammaire Progressive workbook from bookstore. — Purchased 10/31/15.
2. Diversify my income to three sources.
  • Finish bare minimum to make site go live (so I can proceed with the second bullet). — Again, since we didn't have internet until the last week of the month, this did not happen.
  • Contact at least three ESL learners to pilot the program and provide feedback/testimony. — Same thing here, didn't look into this at all.
  • Submit outline of guest post to FluentU  Done 10/30/15, partly to force myself to get going on the website in November. (If I'm going to link to my site and advertise it in a blog post, the website has to exist!)
3. Eat a whole foods, plant-based diet; improve digestion.
  • Shop at the markets and buy lots of plants. Now that we're actually staying in Palavas during the day (since we have internet), I'm a 2-minute walk from several fruit/veggie shops. It's awesome!
  • Read "The Happy Herbivore Cookbook" — I read this on my kindle and bookmarked lots of recipes.
  • Get in an exercise routine — Damien and I went running my first Saturday and Sunday here, but then things dwindled down when we were gone all day during the week. This past Thursday (Oct. 29) we started the "Insanity" workout program with DVDs. Thursday was a Trial Test, then we did the program's cardio on Friday and Sunday. It helps to both be doing it, so I think this will continue into November!
Outside of these goals, I was pleased to make great progress with my Facebook-free Project as soon as we got internet access. I published my second interview, have two more in line to publish, and have emailed questions to several other potential interviewees.

November Focus

Here's what I'd like to accomplish in November:

1. Reach a high intermediate level of French.
  • Use FluentU for at least 5 minutes every day.
  • Complete at least one unit from my Grammaire Progressive workbook a week.
  • Draw out French topics in my new notebooks when needed.
  • Try a private lesson with a French teacher from Fiverr.
  • Read "Bonjour Tristesse."
2. Diversify my income to three sources.
  • Finish bare minimum to make site go live.
  • Contact at least three ESL learners to pilot the program and provide feedback/testimony.
  • Write and submit guest post to FluentU.
3. Eat a whole foods, plant-based diet; improve digestion.
  • Snack on fruits and veggies; go to fruit/veggie market at least once a week to restock.
  • Make two new recipes from "The Happy Herbivore Cookbook."
  • Exercise at least three times a week and track exercise on the "November Exercise" page in my new notebook.

How did you guys do in October? What's one thing you'd like to accomplish in November?
